Moon Dancer is a two-year-old American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the $1,000,000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf race on November 3, 2018, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

Owner Ahmed Zayat and trainer Chad Brown made a big gamble in training Moon Dancer for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf rather than the more prestigious Breeders' Cup Juvenile on the synthetically surfaced Polytrack surface. The decision paid off with Moon Dancer's victory in a very demanding 1 ¼ mile race on turf.

"This is really special," said winning jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.. "The horse was so impressive today."

Zayat added: "I'm just so proud of him. This is why we do it. We take risks."

Moon Dancer was bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm and is out of the mare Malibu Moon Dancer. He was purchased for $575,000 as a yearling by Zayat Stables LLC.

Prior to the win in the $1,000,000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf race, Moon Dancer's best finish was a second-place finish in the one-mile Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs on September 15, 2018.
